Find Entries with Missing ACF Fields with AI
List the entries with empty ACF fields across published, scheduled and draft entries, with edit links, without changing anything.
Prerequisites
A site connected to WPVibe running Advanced Custom Fields (tested on 6.8.10, the free version), with Show in REST API on for the field group and the post type shown in the REST API.
My WordPress site uses ACF. Find my [post type] entries that are missing details, without changing anything. 1. List every entry with GET /wp/v2/[post type REST base]?status=publish,future,draft,pending,private&per_page=100&context=edit&_fields=id,title,status,acf, and keep paging until there are no more. If the entries come back with no acf values, stop and tell me to switch on Show in REST API in the field group's settings in ACF. 2. For each entry, list the fields that are empty: an empty string, null, or an empty list. A number that is 0 counts as filled. A value of false means either a true/false switch that is off or a choice field (select, radio, checkbox) with nothing chosen, so list those separately as "check" with the field name. For a group field, check each value inside it the same way. 3. Show me a table: entry, status, missing fields, and an edit link (/wp-admin/post.php?post=[ID]&action=edit). Put the entries missing the most fields first. 4. Tell me how many entries are complete. Change nothing.
Skip pasting the full prompt. Drop this into your AI on a site that already has WPVibe:
Run the “Find Entries with Missing ACF Fields with AI” recipe from the WPVibe cookbook on my connected site.
A listing with no price, an event with no date, a team member with no photo. ACF does not warn you about an empty field unless it was marked required, so gaps pile up across dozens of entries and only show when someone looks at the page.
The AI reads every entry of the post type, drafts, scheduled and private ones included, with its ACF values, and lists the ones with empty fields: which fields, the entry’s status, and a link to edit it. It changes nothing.
This one works whether or not ACF’s AI abilities are on. It reads ACF’s fields through the WordPress REST API, so the field group needs Show in REST API switched on in its settings, and the post type must be shown in the REST API too. A choice field with nothing chosen comes back the same as a switch that is off, so the AI lists those separately for you to check.
Outcome
A list of entries with missing ACF fields, sorted by how much is missing, with nothing changed.
