Add a Reward Customers Can Redeem Points For with RewardsWP and AI

A new free product or discount for points, with what a point is worth and your points liability shown before you say yes.

Difficulty Beginner
Time ~5 min

Prerequisites

A WooCommerce store connected to WPVibe running RewardsWP 1.6 or newer (free or Pro; tested on Pro 1.6.0) on WordPress 6.9 or newer, with an administrator account. Changes need RewardsWP's write access on: RewardsWP > Tools > AI MCP > Enable MCP Write Access.

The prompt
My WooCommerce store runs RewardsWP. Add a reward members can redeem points for: [for example a free Coffee Blend for 1,500 points, or 15% off for 1,200 points].

1. Run get_ability_info for each RewardsWP ability this uses: rewardswp/get-program-settings, rewardswp/get-setting-choices, rewardswp/search-products, rewardswp/add-spend-action and rewardswp/update-spend-action. If one is not found, stop and tell me this needs RewardsWP 1.6 or newer on WordPress 6.9 or newer. If any of rewardswp/add-spend-action and rewardswp/update-spend-action shows meta.mcp.public false, RewardsWP is not letting AI make that change (not even a dry run): tell me to switch on Enable MCP Write Access under RewardsWP > Tools > AI MCP (and, if it lists separate permissions for each kind of change there, to allow these), and stop. Every RewardsWP change takes a reason (a few words, kept for my admins) and a dry_run: run it with dry_run true first, show me its changes, side_effects and warnings word for word, and wait for my yes before running it again without dry_run.
2. Run rewardswp/get-program-settings: list the ways to redeem that already exist (points.spend_actions) with their points price and amount, and check the points program is on. If a reward like mine already exists, say so and ask whether to change its price with rewardswp/update-spend-action instead.
3. Run rewardswp/get-setting-choices and check my reward type is available under reward_types.spend. If not, tell me the plan it needs and stop.
4. For a free product, find it with rewardswp/search-products search [product name] and ask me which one if more than one matches; it has to be published and in stock. A free product can be redeemed once per member unless I say unlimited.
5. Run rewardswp/add-spend-action with type, points_required, coupon_amount (discounts, whole units or percent) or product_id (free product), a reason and dry_run true. Show me the changes, side_effects, warnings and economics: outstanding_points, value_per_point_after and liability_after (what I would owe if every point were redeemed this way; null for percentage discounts), and the _before values when changing an existing reward. Wait for my yes.
6. On my yes, run it again without dry_run and tell me the action_id it returns.
7. Check it with rewardswp/get-program-settings: the new reward is in points.spend_actions, enabled, at the price I approved. To undo, run rewardswp/update-spend-action with that action_id, enabled false and a reason (that switches it off; deleting it needs my approval in the browser through WPVibe).

Run the “Add a Reward Customers Can Redeem Points For with RewardsWP and AI” recipe from the WPVibe cookbook on my connected site.

Points only work if there is something worth spending them on. Adding a free product or a bigger discount sounds simple, but every new reward changes what a point is worth and how much you would owe if every member cashed in at once.

The AI checks which reward types your plan includes, finds the product if it is a free product, and runs the new reward as a dry run first. You see what a point is worth through it and what your outstanding points would cost you, before and after, and the reward is added only on your yes.

Changing the points price of an existing reward works the same way. Coupons members already redeemed keep the value they were issued with, and a reward can be switched off instead of deleted.

Outcome

Members see the new reward in the rewards widget, at the points price you approved.
