Fix Form Emails That Never Arrive with Formidable Forms and AI
The AI checks every form's email, finds the ones that are off, missing or misaddressed, and fixes them with your yes.
Prerequisites
A site connected to WPVibe running Formidable Forms 7.0 or newer (tested on the free 7.0) on WordPress 6.9 or newer, with an administrator account. Formidable's AI access must be on: Formidable > Global Settings > MCP > Enable the Formidable MCP server.
Emails from my Formidable forms are not arriving. Find out why before changing anything.
1. Run get_ability_info for each Formidable ability this uses: formidable-forms/list-forms, formidable-forms/list-fields, formidable-forms/list-form-actions, formidable-forms/create-form-action and formidable-forms/update-form-action. If one is not found, Formidable is keeping its abilities off: tell me to update Formidable Forms to 7.0 or newer if it is older, then switch on Enable the Formidable MCP server under Formidable > Global Settings > MCP and click Update (I can switch it off again afterwards), and stop. Square-bracket codes such as [admin_email], [default-email], [form_name] and [default-message] are Formidable shortcodes: keep them as they are.
2. List my forms with formidable-forms/list-forms, page_size 100. For each published form, run formidable-forms/list-form-actions with its id and type email. Each result is one email: post_status publish means on, draft means off. In post_content, email_to is where it goes, reply_to and from are the sender details, and event must include create for it to send on new entries. An empty result means that form sends no email at all. Read the shortcodes: [admin_email] is the site admin email (run_wp_cli option get admin_email); [default-email] is the Default Email Address in Formidable's settings (run_wp_cli option pluck frm_options default_email; empty means the admin email); a number in square brackets is a form field, so the email goes to whatever address the visitor typed there (check with formidable-forms/list-fields).
3. Run run_wp_cli plugin list --status=active and look for a mailer plugin (WP Mail SMTP, FluentSMTP, Post SMTP or similar).
4. Tell me in plain words: a table of each published form with each email's title, on or off, where it goes (with the shortcodes turned into real addresses), and anything wrong; the forms that send no email at all; and whether a mailer plugin is active. If there is none, say mail probably goes through the host's default mail, which inboxes often filter, and don't install anything without my yes. Change nothing yet.
5. Wait for my yes on each fix. To switch an email on, run formidable-forms/update-form-action with its id and post_status publish. If the email goes to a form field (its email_to is a field id in square brackets), it goes to the public: first check run_wp_cli option pluck frm_options honeypot returns 1, and if it does not, tell me before switching it on. To change where it goes, send its id with post_content {"email_to": "NEW_ADDRESS"}; settings you leave out stay as they are. For a form with no email, run formidable-forms/create-form-action with form_id, type email, post_title "Email Notification" and post_content {"email_to": "NEW_ADDRESS", "reply_to": "EMAIL_FIELD_ID", "email_subject": "New entry: [form_name]", "email_message": "[default-message]", "event": ["create"]}, where EMAIL_FIELD_ID is the form's email field id in square brackets (leave reply_to out if the form has none).
6. Read each changed form back with formidable-forms/list-form-actions and show me the result. Ask me to fill in each fixed form once with my own email address and check my inbox and spam folder; Formidable's free version keeps no email log, so that test is the proof. Tell me how to undo each change: post_status draft switches an email off, and an address change is undone by sending the old email_to back.
Skip pasting the full prompt. Drop this into your AI on a site that already has WPVibe:
Run the “Fix Form Emails That Never Arrive with Formidable Forms and AI” recipe from the WPVibe cookbook on my connected site.
You find out weeks later: a customer says they filled in your form and never heard back, and no email ever came. With Formidable the cause is often simple. The form’s email was switched off, it goes to an old address, the form never had one (forms built by an AI tool or copied from another site can start without any), or the site sends mail without a mailer plugin and inboxes file it as spam.
The AI checks every published form: whether it has an email, whether it is on, where it goes and when it sends, then whether your site has a mailer plugin. It tells you what it found in plain words before changing anything. On your yes it switches an email back on, fixes the address or adds one, a form at a time, and reads each one back.
Run it whenever form emails go quiet. Afterwards, fill a form in yourself and check your inbox and spam folder. Formidable’s free version keeps no email log, so that test is the proof. If the site has no mailer plugin, the AI tells you; setting one up with your email provider takes a few minutes.
Outcome
Every form you rely on has its email on and going to the right address, and you know whether the site can deliver mail.
