Noindex Thank-You and Utility Pages in SiteSEO with AI

Keep thank-you, download and account pages out of search results and out of your SiteSEO sitemap.

Difficulty Beginner
Time ~10 min

Prerequisites

A site connected to WPVibe running SiteSEO 1.4.2 or newer (tested on 1.4.2, free) on WordPress 6.9 or newer, with an administrator account, and the Abilities - SiteSEO switch turned on under SiteSEO > AI Abilities.

The prompt
My WordPress site uses SiteSEO. Keep my utility pages out of search results.

1. Run discover_abilities with category siteseo-posts. If siteseo-posts/seo-data-get is not there, run rest_api GET /wp/v2/plugins with search siteseo. If SiteSEO is active, tell me its AI abilities are off until I turn on the Abilities - SiteSEO switch at the top of SiteSEO > AI Abilities in wp-admin (the MCP Adapter and Application Password steps on that page are not needed for WPVibe; if the switch is already on, the site needs SiteSEO 1.4.2 or newer and WordPress 6.9 or newer), and stop. If it is installed but not active, tell me to activate it and then turn on that switch, and stop. If it is not installed, tell me this recipe is for the free SiteSEO plugin, and stop.
2. Run run_wp_cli option get blog_public. If it is 0, tell me Discourage search engines is on under Settings > Reading, ask whether this is a staging site, and stop. Run siteseo-settings/get: if settings.titles.titles_noindex is true, stop and tell me SiteSEO is set to noindex the whole site; if settings.titles.titles_single_titles.page.noindex is true, stop and tell me every page already says noindex. If settings.toggles toggle-titles is not on, or settings.advanced.appearance_adminbar_noindex is true, stop and tell me SiteSEO is not printing robots tags, so a noindex set here would not show: turn on Titles & Metas on the SiteSEO dashboard, or untick Remove noindex item from Admin Bar under SiteSEO > Advanced > Appearance, first.
3. List my published pages with rest_api GET /wp/v2/pages with status publish and per_page 100 (page through if there are more), and find the ones that are only useful after an action: [thank-you, order confirmation, download, login or account pages, or name your own]. Leave out the front page and any page I did not mean. Skip WooCommerce cart, checkout and My Account pages: SiteSEO already noindexes them. For each, give me the title, ID and URL, and run siteseo-posts/seo-data-get to show whether robots.noindex is already true. Skip those.
4. Wait for me to confirm the list.
5. For each confirmed page, run siteseo-posts/seo-data-update with postId and robots {"noindex": true}, and nothing else. Do not send other robots flags or fields.
6. Fetch each page with get_page_html and confirm its robots meta tag contains noindex. If it still says index, check for a page cache before calling it a failure.
7. Run siteseo-sitemap/status-get. If enabled is false, tell me there is no SiteSEO sitemap to clean up and skip to step 8. Otherwise SiteSEO keeps serving a cached sitemap for up to 12 hours after a change made this way. Pick one changed page whose status is publish and run run_wp_cli post update ID --post_status=publish, which re-saves it without changing its content; one save clears the cached page lists. Then fetch its index_url, open each page-sitemapN.xml file it lists, and confirm the pages are gone.
8. Tell me how to undo it for a page: ask for robots {"noindex": false} on that page and the same re-save, so it returns to the sitemap, or untick noindex in the SiteSEO box under the page editor and update the page.

Run the “Noindex Thank-You and Utility Pages in SiteSEO with AI” recipe from the WPVibe cookbook on my connected site.

Thank-you pages, download pages and account screens are only useful after someone takes an action, but search engines index them like everything else. A searcher who lands on one skips the step that should come before it.

The AI lists your published pages, picks out the ones that are only useful after an action, shows you the robots tag each one sends today, and waits for you to confirm the list. Then it ticks noindex in SiteSEO for those pages only, checks the live tag, and takes them out of the sitemap.

SiteSEO caches its sitemap for up to 12 hours and rebuilds it when a post is saved, so the AI re-saves one of the changed pages without changing its content, which clears the cached page list and takes them all out of the sitemap at once. Undo is one switch per page and the same re-save.

Outcome

Your utility pages send noindex, are gone from the SiteSEO sitemap, and every other page is untouched.
