Disable a Shared License Key in Easy Digital Downloads with AI
Paste a key you found posted publicly or flagged for abuse, see who owns it and where it is active, then disable it on your word.
Prerequisites
A connected site running Easy Digital Downloads 3.7.1 or newer with Software Licensing 3.9.8 or newer, on WordPress 6.9 or newer, with AI write access switched on under Downloads, Tools, AI for the disable step. The lookups work without it.
I run my store on Easy Digital Downloads with Software Licensing. I think this license key is being shared or misused: [license key]. Use the Software Licensing and Easy Digital Downloads abilities, and do the read-only lookups first. Look up the license by its key and show me the product, status, expiration date, the order it came from, and the customer who owns it with their name and email. Then list every site it is activated on, with the activation count and limit, and point out anything that looks like sharing, such as many unrelated domains or sites that do not match the customer. Do not change anything yet. If I tell you to disable it, disable only this license, then look it up again and confirm the status is Disabled. Do not refund, cancel, or change the order, and do not touch the customer's other licenses.
Skip pasting the full prompt. Drop this into your AI on a site that already has WPVibe:
Run the “Disable a Shared License Key in Easy Digital Downloads with AI” recipe from the WPVibe cookbook on my connected site.
Sooner or later a license key turns up where it should not: pasted in a forum thread, sent in by someone who is clearly not the buyer, or active on far more sites than anyone paid for. Dealing with it means finding the license behind the key, checking who owns it and where it is running, and switching it off without touching the customer's other purchases.
You paste the key and the AI looks it up through Software Licensing's own abilities: the license, the customer who owns it, the order it came from, and every site it is active on. It tells you what it found and whether the pattern looks like sharing, and only on your word disables that one license, which stops the key working on every site at once. It does not refund, cancel, or delete anything.
Paste the prompt with the key. Disabling can be undone: enabling the license again restores the status its expiration date implies. If the owner is a real customer who shared the key by mistake, you will have their name and email in front of you, so you can decide whether to reach out first or switch it off now and talk after.
Outcome
You know who owns the key and where it is running, and on your word that one license is disabled everywhere, with nothing else on the account changed.
