Add your Instagram feed to a page with AI
Connect your Instagram account, build an Instagram Feed Pro feed, and place it on any page by asking, with the login staying in your own browser.
Prerequisites
A connected site running Smash Balloon Instagram Feed Pro 6.14.0 or newer on WordPress 6.9 or newer, with MCP Write Access turned on under Instagram Feed > Settings > General, and an Instagram Business or Creator account (Instagram stopped supporting Personal accounts in December 2024). You will need to be logged in to wp-admin in your browser to connect it.
I use Smash Balloon Instagram Feed Pro. Put my Instagram feed on [page name, for example the homepage], [where on the page, for example just above the footer]. First run the Instagram Feed list-sources ability. If no account is connected, run get-connect-url, give me the link, and wait while I open it in my browser, finish the Instagram login, and choose my account in the account picker that opens on Instagram Feed > Settings; then run list-sources again and tell me which account is connected. Create the feed with create-feed: source [my Instagram username], template [Simple Grid], [4] columns, [8] posts, named "[feed name]". Add the shortcode it returns to the page as a Shortcode block, or as the page builder's shortcode widget if the page is built with one. If the page is already published, show me exactly where the feed will go and wait for my yes before saving. If an ability says AI write access is disabled, stop and tell me to turn on MCP Write Access under Instagram Feed > Settings > General. When you are done, give me the feed id, the shortcode, and the page link so I can check it.
Skip pasting the full prompt. Drop this into your AI on a site that already has WPVibe:
Run the “Add your Instagram feed to a page with AI” recipe from the WPVibe cookbook on my connected site.
You installed Instagram Feed Pro to put your Instagram posts on the site, and then the setup stalled. Connecting the account, picking a template, setting the columns, copying the shortcode into the right page: none of it is hard, but it is four screens in two places, so the homepage still has an empty spot where the feed was supposed to go.
The AI does the whole setup through Instagram Feed’s own abilities. It checks which accounts are connected, and if there are none it hands you a one-time connect link. You open it in your browser, finish the Instagram login yourself, and then choose the account in the picker that opens on Instagram Feed > Settings; the AI never sees your Meta password or tokens. Then it creates the feed with your template and layout, gets back the shortcode, and places it on the page. If the page is already live, it shows you where the feed will go and waits for your yes before saving. Once it is saved, the page shows your latest Instagram posts with their photos and captions.
Fill in the brackets and paste the prompt. The connect link works once and expires after 15 minutes, so open it when the AI gives it to you, and use an Instagram Business or Creator account. Until an account is connected, visitors see nothing where the feed sits and logged-in admins see a short “No connected account” notice; an account with no posts yet shows admins “No posts found” instead. Check the page after the login step.
Outcome
A new Instagram feed built from your connected account, showing your latest posts on the page you named, with its id and shortcode in the chat.
