Manage GoSMTP with AI

Connect GoSMTP to Claude, ChatGPT, or any AI assistant with WPVibe. Send a test email, find out why email isn't working and fix the sender name, by asking in plain English.

What your AI can do with GoSMTP

One connection gives your assistant structured, permission-checked access to the whole site.

Test your email

A test email through GoSMTP, the result in plain words, and the one setting to change.

Fix the sender

Find out why emails come from WordPress instead of your name, and confirm the fix with a test.

Things to ask

Paste any of these into Claude or ChatGPT once GoSMTP is connected.

“Check that my site can send email, and if it can't, tell me why.”
“My emails come from WordPress instead of my shop's name. Find out why.”

Up and running in three steps

1

Install WPVibe

Add the free WPVibe plugin from WordPress.org to the site running GoSMTP.

2

Connect your AI

Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and more. One click to authorize, and no passwords ever go in the chat.

3

Ask in plain English

“Check that my site can send email, and if it can't, tell me why.”

Verified GoSMTP recipes

Copy-paste playbooks, each one tested on a live GoSMTP install before it ships.

Every GoSMTP ability

GoSMTP registers these with the WordPress Abilities API under the gosmtp-settings namespace. Your AI finds them with discover_abilities and calls them with run_ability. WPVibe asks for your approval only when an ability is marked destructive and deletes something or runs code; everything else runs as soon as your AI calls it. Verified means we ran it on a live install of v1.2.4. Registered means a fresh install of v1.2.4 ships it and we have not run it yet.

Requires GoSMTP 1.2.1 or newer on WordPress 6.9 or newer, with an administrator account, and Enable AI Abilities ticked under GoSMTP > AI Abilities (that checkbox only; WPVibe does not need the MCP Adapter or Application Password steps on that page). Tested on GoSMTP 1.2.4 (free).

What we learned testing it

Behavior the ability descriptions do not mention.

  • The abilities are off until you tick Enable AI Abilities under GoSMTP > AI Abilities. Until then nothing from GoSMTP shows up for the AI. With WPVibe that checkbox is all you need: the MCP Adapter and Application Password steps on that page are for connecting an AI client to WordPress directly.
  • GoSMTP's abilities read the settings and send a test email; none of them change settings or connections: you do that on GoSMTP > Settings, and the AI tells you what to change.
  • Sent means GoSMTP handed the email to the mailer, not that it arrived. With the Mail option the web host's own mail server takes it from there, so check the inbox and the spam folder.
  • GoSMTP uses its From Email and From Name only when Force From Email and Force From Name are ticked. In our test, with them unticked, the test email went out as WordPress, from wordpress@yourdomain, and a plugin's own sender was kept; with them ticked, both became the From Name and From Email set in GoSMTP.
  • The abilities never return passwords, API keys or the SMTP host and port, so the error from a test email is the clue: Could not connect means the host name, port or encryption is wrong or the web host blocks the port, Could not authenticate means the username or password was refused.
  • Free GoSMTP has one connection. More connections, a backup connection and email logs are GoSMTP Pro, which adds its own abilities we have not tested.

Verified, and kept that way

Works with AI is WPVibe’s verification program. Every ability marked verified was run on a live GoSMTP install, and we rescan WordPress.org weekly so a release that adds or removes abilities shows up here before it surprises you.
