WebP is a modern format that holds the same picture at roughly half the file size, which is one of the biggest wins available for page weight. The catch is that converting a whole library by hand is miserable, and most of the easy tools funnel you toward a paid cloud service to do the work.
WPVibe installs Converter for Media, which does the conversion on your own server using the image tools already installed there, so no paid API and no pictures ever leave your site. Once it is on, every new image you upload is converted to WebP automatically. We verified this on a test site: a fresh 280KB JPEG upload produced a valid 134KB WebP for the full size and each thumbnail, about half the weight, served automatically to browsers that support it. Your original files are kept untouched, so the conversion adds WebP copies rather than replacing anything.
Paste the prompt and the AI installs and configures the converter, then proves it by uploading one image and showing you the WebP it created. Two honest limits. New uploads convert on their own, but your existing library is converted by clicking Regenerate on the plugin’s Bulk Optimization page, a button the AI cannot press for you, so it will point you straight to it. And if you also want to shrink oversized original files, that step does rewrite the originals, so take a backup first and try it on a handful of images before you run the whole library.
