Fix Fluent Forms emails that never arrive with AI

Your AI checks every Fluent Forms email, finds the ones that are off or misaddressed, and fixes them with your yes.

Difficulty Beginner
Time ~10 min

Prerequisites

A site connected to WPVibe with the free Fluent Forms plugin (tested on 6.2.15) and an administrator account.

The prompt
Emails from my Fluent Forms forms are not arriving. Find out why before changing anything.

Never pass the fields parameter on a /fluentform/v1 route: Fluent Forms answers with an object that WordPress can't trim, and the site returns a critical error. Raise max_length instead.

1. List my forms with rest_api GET /fluentform/v1/forms?per_page=100. For each published form, GET /fluentform/v1/settings/FORM_ID?meta_key=notifications. Each item is one email: its id, and in value: enabled, sendTo (type email sends to the addresses in sendTo.email; type field sends to the address typed into that form field; type routing follows rules), subject. An empty list means that form sends no email. Get the site's admin email with run_wp_cli option get admin_email, to read {wp.admin_email}.
2. For each form, read its email log with GET /fluentform/v1/logs?form_id=ID&component[]=EmailNotification&per_page=10 (write component[] exactly like that, as a list). "Email sending initiated" means Fluent Forms handed the email to WordPress, not that it arrived; "Email sending failed" carries the reason WordPress gave; "Email sending skipped" means the address or subject was empty or invalid. Then list each form's recent spam with GET /fluentform/v1/submissions?form_id=ID&entry_type=spam&per_page=20 (max_length 60000), and read GET /fluentform/v1/global-settings?key=_fluentform_global_form_settings: when misc.akismet_validation or misc.cleantalk_validation is "mark_as_spam_and_skip_processing", an entry its spam filter catches sends no email, so a customer who never heard back may be in that list. In the default mode the email still goes out. Finally run_wp_cli plugin list --status=active and look for a mailer plugin (FluentSMTP, WP Mail SMTP, Post SMTP or similar).
3. Tell me in plain words: a table of each form with each email's name, on or off, where it goes, and the last initiated, failed or skipped line with its reason; then any spam entries that look like real people, and whether a mailer plugin is active. Fluent Forms' form templates create the admin email switched off, so say which forms are like that. If you find no mailer plugin, say mail probably goes through the host's default mail, which inboxes often filter, unless the host or the site sets up sending some other way; don't install anything without my yes.
4. Wait for my yes on each fix. To switch an email on or change where it goes: rest_api_write POST /fluentform/v1/settings/FORM_ID with {"meta_key": "notifications", "meta_id": EMAIL_ID, "value": "EMAIL_VALUE_AS_JSON"}. Start from the value you read in step 1 and change only enabled or sendTo.email (separate several addresses with commas). Send the whole value: what you send replaces that email's settings. To give a form with no email one, send the same call without meta_id and a value with name "Admin Notification Email", sendTo {"type": "email", "email": "[address]", "field": "", "routing": []}, fromName "", fromEmail "", replyTo "" (or {inputs.email} when the form has a field named email, so I can reply straight to the person), bcc "", subject "New entry: {form_title}", message "{all_data}", conditionals {"status": false, "type": "all", "conditions": [{"field": "", "operator": "=", "value": ""}]}, enabled true and email_template "".
5. Read each changed form back with the GET from step 1 and show me the result. Ask me to send one test entry from the form's page and check my inbox and spam folder, then check that form's email log from step 2 shows "Email sending initiated" for it and no failed line. Tell me how to undo: for an email you changed, send the old value back with the same call; for an email you added, the same POST with its new meta_id and the value with enabled false switches it off.

Run the “Fix Fluent Forms emails that never arrive with AI” recipe from the WPVibe cookbook on my connected site.

You find out weeks later: a customer says they filled in your form and never heard back, and there was no email. With Fluent Forms the cause is often simple. Its form templates come with the admin email switched off, older forms may have no email at all, Fluent Forms can be set to send nothing for entries its spam filter catches, and a site that sends mail without a mailer plugin often has it filtered as spam.

Ask your AI assistant and it checks every form: whether its email is on, where it goes, what Fluent Forms’ log says happened to the last ones, and any real-looking entries sitting in Spam, then whether your site has a mailer plugin. It tells you what it found in plain words before changing anything. On your yes it switches the email on or fixes the address, one form at a time, through Fluent Forms’ own settings, and reads each one back.

Run it whenever form emails go quiet. After the fix, send yourself a test entry and check your inbox and spam folder. If the site has no mailer plugin, the assistant tells you; setting one up with your email provider takes a few minutes in wp-admin.

Outcome

Every form you rely on has its email switched on and going to the right address, and you know whether the site can deliver mail.
