Resolve “I Never Got My Download” Tickets in Easy Digital Downloads with AI
Give the AI a customer's email and get the order, the receipt history, and the download history back, then resend the receipt and log what you did.
Prerequisites
A connected site running Easy Digital Downloads 3.7.1 or newer on WordPress 6.9 or newer, with AI write access switched on under Downloads, Tools, AI for the resend and the order note. The lookups work without it.
I run my store on Easy Digital Downloads. A customer says they paid and never got their download. Their email is [customer email]. Use the Easy Digital Downloads abilities to investigate, and do the read-only lookups first. Find the customer record and their orders. If there is more than one order, list them with date, total, and status and ask me which one the ticket is about. For that order, show me the items bought, the payment status, and the email address on the order. Then check the email log for that order to see whether the purchase receipt was sent and when, and check the file download log to see whether any file on the order was ever downloaded. Tell me in two or three sentences what most likely happened. Do not change the order status and do not create anything yet. If the order is complete and I tell you to go ahead, resend the purchase receipt, confirm the address it went to, and add an internal note to the order saying the receipt was resent today and why. If the order is not complete, stop and tell me what state it is in instead of resending anything.
Skip pasting the full prompt. Drop this into your AI on a site that already has WPVibe:
Run the “Resolve “I Never Got My Download” Tickets in Easy Digital Downloads with AI” recipe from the WPVibe cookbook on my connected site.
The most common support email a digital store gets is some version of "I paid and nothing arrived." Answering it properly means four screens: find the customer, open the order, check whether the receipt email went out, check whether the file was ever downloaded. It is five minutes of clicking per ticket, and it is the same five minutes every time.
You give the AI the customer's email address and it does the lookup through Easy Digital Downloads' own abilities: the customer record, their orders, the email log for the receipt, and the file download log. It tells you what it found in plain English, and only then, on your word, resends the receipt and adds an internal note to the order so the next person who opens it can see what happened. It will not change an order's status or touch a payment.
Paste the prompt with the customer's email. If the log shows the receipt was sent and the file was never downloaded, the email is usually in a spam folder or went to a mistyped address, and the AI will tell you which address is on the order so you can compare it with the one the customer wrote from. Resending goes to the address on the order, not to a new one. Refunds are not part of this: Easy Digital Downloads keeps those in the admin on purpose.
Outcome
You know whether the order completed, whether the receipt was sent, and whether the file was ever downloaded, the receipt has been resent if needed, and the order carries a note saying so.
