Set Up Membership Levels in MemberPress with AI

Describe your membership tiers in plain English and get each one created with its price, billing period, trial, and pricing-page benefits, saved as drafts for you to review.

Difficulty Beginner
Time ~10 min

Prerequisites

A connected site running MemberPress with the Developer Tools add-on active, and the prices and billing periods you want to offer.

The prompt
I use MemberPress on my WordPress site. Set up these membership levels: [for each level: a name, a price, how often it bills (monthly, yearly, or one-time), a free trial length if any, and 3 to 5 benefits to show on the pricing page]. First list the memberships that already exist with the MemberPress abilities so we don't create a duplicate. Then show me a table of every membership you plan to create and wait for my OK. Create each one through the MemberPress Developer Tools REST API (mp/v1/memberships), with the benefits in pricing_benefits and any trial in trial and trial_days. MemberPress publishes new memberships immediately and the REST API ignores a status of draft, so right after you create each one, move it to draft with the WP-CLI command post update [membership ID] --post_status=draft, and do not publish anything. When they are all created, clear the MemberPress membership cache with the WP-CLI command transient delete mepr_all_models_for_class_meprproduct so the new levels show up in wp-admin. Finally, read each membership back and show me what was saved next to what I asked for, with the edit link for each so I can review them before I publish.

Run the “Set Up Membership Levels in MemberPress with AI” recipe from the WPVibe cookbook on my connected site.

Pricing a membership is the decision you keep going back and forth on, and entering it is its own chore. Every level means a new membership screen, a price, a billing period, a trial checkbox, and a list of benefits typed into the pricing box one line at a time. Change your mind about the annual price and you are back in each screen again.

You describe the levels once, in plain English, and the AI checks what already exists so it does not duplicate a level. It shows you a table of every membership it plans to create, waits for your yes, then creates them through MemberPress's own API with the price, billing period, trial, and pricing-page benefits filled in. Because MemberPress publishes new memberships straight away, the AI moves each one to draft right after creating it, so nothing is for sale until you say so.

Paste the prompt with your levels. A name, a price, and how often it bills is enough; trials and benefits are optional. Review each draft in wp-admin, then publish the ones you want live. Connect a payment gateway before you publish, or the registration page will have no way to take money.

Outcome

Each membership level exists as a draft in MemberPress with the right price, billing period, trial, and pricing-page benefits, ready for you to review and publish.
