Cookbook Marketing Smash Balloon

Spotlight your best Instagram posts with AI

Switch an Instagram Feed Pro feed to the highlight layout and make your best posts larger by hashtag or pattern.

Difficulty Beginner
Time ~5 min

Prerequisites

A connected site running Smash Balloon Instagram Feed Pro 6.14.0 or newer on WordPress 6.9 or newer, with MCP Write Access turned on under Instagram Feed > Settings > General, and an existing feed.

The prompt
I use Smash Balloon Instagram Feed Pro. On the Instagram feed [feed name or id], make my best posts stand out. First run get-feed and tell me the current layout and highlight settings so I can go back. Then show me the planned changes and wait for my yes. After I say yes, first use set-highlight-source to highlight [posts tagged #[hashtag]] [or: every [4]th post, starting at post [1]], and then use update-feed-settings to set the layout to "highlight". If an ability says AI write access is disabled, stop and tell me to turn on MCP Write Access under Instagram Feed > Settings > General. A warning from the first call that the layout is not highlight yet is expected. Quote the warnings from the last call, and do not call it finished while they say the highlight will not show. Give me a link to a page with this feed so I can check it.

Run the “Spotlight your best Instagram posts with AI” recipe from the WPVibe cookbook on my connected site.

In a plain grid every post gets the same square, so the launch photo sits at the same size as a blurry story screenshot. Instagram Feed Pro has a highlight layout that shows chosen posts larger, but setting it up means finding the layout, then the separate highlight settings, then deciding how posts get picked.

The AI reads the current layout, shows you the planned changes, and waits for your yes. Then it sets what gets highlighted with Instagram Feed’s set-highlight-source ability, posts with a hashtag you choose or every Nth post with an optional starting offset, and only after that switches the feed to the highlight layout. Instagram Feed checks the combination after each call. A warning on the first call that the layout is not highlight yet is expected; the warnings from the last call describe the finished feed, and the AI reports those rather than calling it done.

Pick a hashtag you already use on the posts you are proud of, or a pattern such as every fourth post, and paste the prompt. Highlights can also be set by post ID, but that needs Instagram’s own post IDs and no ability lists them, so a hashtag is the easier route. Layout changes apply to the live feed right away, so the prompt asks for the old layout and your yes first.

Outcome

The feed in the highlight layout, with posts picked by your hashtag or pattern shown larger, and Instagram Feed's report confirming it.
