Every WooCommerce ability

WooCommerce registers these with the WordPress Abilities API under the woocommerce namespace. Your AI finds them with discover_abilities and calls them with run_ability. WPVibe asks for your approval only when an ability is marked destructive and deletes something or runs code; everything else runs as soon as your AI calls it. Verified means we ran it on a live install of v11.1.2. Registered means a fresh install of v11.1.2 ships it and we have not run it yet.

Requires WooCommerce 10.9 or newer on WordPress 6.9 or newer. The abilities are built into the free WooCommerce plugin.

What we learned testing it

Behavior the ability descriptions do not mention.

  • The abilities need WooCommerce 10.9 or newer on WordPress 6.9 or newer. They are on by default; there is no setting to turn on.
  • Variable products (sizes, colors and other options) are not supported: products-query lists them, but product-update refuses them and product-create cannot make one. The WooCommerce REST API through WPVibe still reaches them.
  • Changing an order's status sends WooCommerce's usual emails, such as Completed order, and a customer note is emailed to the customer at once. Both run without an approval step, so have the AI show you the order and the note first.
  • Setting an order to Refunded only records it: no money goes back through the payment gateway, yet WooCommerce emails the customer that it was refunded. Cancelled puts the stock back. Issue real refunds in wp-admin or your payment gateway.
  • Deleting a product is the one ability WPVibe stops for approval. It returns a link, and the product is trashed, or permanently deleted if the AI asked for that, only after you approve it there.
  • Price, stock and grouped-item changes must name the product's current type as product_type_alias, and the ability converts the product to whatever type is named. The AI maps it from products-query: simple + virtual + downloadable = digital, simple + virtual = virtual, any other simple = physical, external = affiliate, grouped = grouped. A simple product that is downloadable but not virtual counts as physical, and an update turns its downloads off; change those in wp-admin. Name, SKU, descriptions and status change without it.
  • Prices are plain numbers as text, such as "24.00" or "1200.00". A currency symbol is rejected, and a thousands separator is misread: "1.000" is saved as one.
  • Order dates need a full date and time, such as 2026-10-01T00:00:00. A bare date is rejected as invalid.
  • Orders come back without the customer's name, shipping address or order notes. Recipes that need them read the same order from the WooCommerce REST API.
  • Images, categories and tags are not part of the product abilities. Set them through the WooCommerce REST API after the product is created.
  • A stock count only sticks when stock tracking is on, so the AI sends manage_stock true with it. A count at or below the out-of-stock threshold (0 by default) marks the product out of stock, or on backorder if backorders are allowed.
