Every MemberPress ability
MemberPress registers these with the WordPress Abilities API under the memberpress namespace. Your AI finds them with discover_abilities and calls them with run_ability; only abilities marked destructive ask for your approval before they run. Verified means we ran it on a live install of v1.14.1. Registered means a fresh install of AI Foundation 1.5.2 ships it and we have not run it yet.
Requires MemberPress with the AI Foundation add-on on WordPress 6.9 or newer. The write abilities marked Verified (create-coupon, create-member, create-rule, update-member) were verified on AI Foundation 1.5.3 with Allow connected apps to make changes turned on (MemberPress AI → MCP Settings). On earlier versions, creating memberships, rules, coupons, and cancellations uses the Developer Tools add-on.

What we learned testing it
Behavior the ability descriptions do not mention.
- Before MemberPress AI Foundation 1.5.3, AI Foundation lets connections that use a WordPress Application Password read but not write, and WPVibe connects that way, so on those versions WPVibe makes changes through the Developer Tools REST API instead. From 1.5.3, turning on Allow connected apps to make changes (MemberPress AI → MCP Settings) lets WPVibe use the write abilities directly.
- New memberships and access rules go live the moment they are created. The recipes set memberships to draft and ask before creating rules.
- MemberPress caches its list of access rules. A rule created through the Developer Tools REST API is not enforced until that cache is cleared, so the recipes clear it and test the page logged out. The create-rule ability in AI Foundation 1.5.3 refreshes the cache itself.
- A first-payment-only coupon needs the offer in its first-payment discount fields and its regular discount set to 0. Copy the offer into the regular discount and MemberPress takes it off every renewal too.
- Before AI Foundation 1.5.3, the check-access ability can report protected content as unprotected. Load the page logged out to be sure.
- Refunds through an offline gateway fail by design. Refund card payments in Stripe or PayPal.
Verified, and kept that way
Works with AI is WPVibe’s verification program. Every ability marked verified was run on a live MemberPress install, and we rescan WordPress.org weekly so a release that adds or removes abilities shows up here before it surprises you.
